Weston-super-Mare is the largest population centre in North Somerset and is a popular tourist destination with more than 76,000 residents, so there is plenty of work for a local locksmith to do.
The first thing to check is whether you really need a locksmith to come out. Often, if your key won’t turn, a little spray of WD-40 might be enough to loosen up the jammed pins and allow you to gain access again.
However, sometimes you will get locked out. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us (we know of one locksmith who had to let the same person into their own home three times in one day!), so don't be embarrassed if it happens to you.

With an average of 60 burglaries a month in Weston-super-Mare in 2015 [Source] it's important to make sure your home is as secure as can be.
There are some security flaws you can check for yourself. For example, if you have a window on or near your door then a double cylinder lock that needs a key on the inside will be more secure than a thumb-turn dead bolt. To get around the deadbolt someone would only need to knock out the glass, stick a hand in, and turn.
Even if the deadbolt is not located near a window you can still check to make sure it has been properly installed. It should have at least a one-inch “throw,” and on the “strike side,” there should be a security plate with screws at least three inches long that go all the way into the door’s wooden frame.
It's also worth considering that with over 1,000 houses changing hands every year, many people are finding it a worthwhile security measure to rekey their locks. Although previous residents are required to hand over all the keys, some new owners get greater peace of mind by having a locksmith slightly alter the existing locks to ensure that only new keys can open them. This removes any possibility of a master key still being out there which someone could use to gain access.
Many car dealers will tell you only they can duplicate your car keys, but in many cases a good locksmith can do the same job for less than you would pay the dealer.
We can also help if the key has become jammed in the ignition, which sometimes does happen, or if the door lock itself has been broken or damaged.

It's possible for a locksmith to key your door to give your a master key which operates both the deadbolt and doorknob, while allowing secondary keys only to open the doorknob.
This makes it an ideal arrangement for you to allow access on specific days. For example, if you have a cleaner who requires access on a Tuesday you can still have the deadbolt locked every other day of the week, secure in the knowledge the secondary key cannot open the doors.
These are just some of the reasons our locksmith services are so useful, in Weston-super-Mare and beyond.
